Not a post commenting on the QQing obviously going on here or the jabs directed at Anet staff but can this community at GURU get any more out of touch and greedy about things ? ME WANT ... ME WANT..... GOOD GOD !!

Martin and Regina thanks for the information and as always when ANET has made mistakes they have always tried to be fair and impartial with their fans.

Can you guys really ask any more of them then that ? Go try another game if you're that unhappy.

But what if you're like me and bought an account specifically for the XTH? The feature was available before I started playing GW. Actually it's not really a big deal to me from a gamer's perspective. May 2009's MAT was the second time I actually used the XTH for predictions. (I didn't get my points. I still have screen shots of that tragic day. lol)

Here's my gripe though and let me explain where I'm coming from... I've worked in the Information Technology field all my adult life. I can program in Basic, Visual Basic, FORTRAN, C, C++ and a few other low level environment languages. I'm quite familiar with Relational Database development. I also have extensive experience with network farms and archival. (Back-ups and restores on a large scale.) I'm not a designer. I'm an engineer. We use the same tools just different interfaces.

Programs/Databases DO NOT function (somewhat) flawlessly time and time again then all of a sudden fail so horribly that a short trip backwards in time (restore) can't repair.

So... There's only 4 reasons (and likely more than 1 of the 4) that this problem could have possibly occurred. 1. Incompetency on behalf of the Archival Staff and/or Data Management Staff. 2. Internal sabotage. (An external sabotage could still be easily repaired with a data restore.) 3. The Support Staff were directed to shutdown the XTH in a way that would appear to be unavoidable. 4. Unnoticed coincidental hardware failure across multiple systems for an extended period of time. (It's actually possible!)

To me and you, GW is a game. But to the support staff, GW is a business. I try to look at things like this from both sides. From the business side I can honestly say that reason number 3 would be the only acceptable reason behind this fiasco. But if that wasn't the cause, I can assure you that some of my employees would have 2 paychecks, an empty lunchbox and be staring at a road map. Gross incompetence should be tolerated by neither the management nor the consumer. This whole incident is an embarrassment.

I for one would like to know the cause of this issue and exactly why it couldn't be resolved. Not some silly little NPC telling me funnies.

But saying all that (forgive the length) I'm more of a conspiracy theorist. I think this is an elaborate scheme to back-pedal on a few items that they no longer make money with. And in the process they are losing long-time, serious gamers... which makes way for the P2P consumer. Cha-ching! GW goes from "maintain mode" to "sustain mode." No more updates, items, etc. etc. but "we'll keep a few servers up for you loyal few." Anet goes belly-up but a new company buys the rights and offers GW2 as a play-as-you-go with micro-transactions. Where's my tinfoil hat?

but ....I did find out that it was ALL accounts--even those brought online after the xth went ....kablueee.....I got one of those cheap accounts for xmas (gift)...and it was also able to get points .....kinda nice since it was down so long, but still not quite right.
oh well...got a few crummy golds from it and some reg. tomes....but heck I made it to level 3 zaishen now.

Thanks for keeping your word of a point distribution, such as it was, anet.

Yes. But you have to register your account before they become available. If your account isn't registered, simply speak to Tolkano to register your account. That will "unlock" the 50 free tourney points that you get from the new NPC dude in GToB.

Yes you can register a trial account, whether the trial account would be eligible for the rep points I don't know, but you can't trade with a trial account.

This happens only if you have the points already. You might have gotten them on a character on the same account. Press H and check your 3rd menu if you have the points.

It appears that trial accounts don't have access to GToB
